| Andrea Renney of North Vancouver, British Columbia, graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Commerce. She began her placement with the Inter-American Development Bank in La Paz, Bolivia, in August, 2006. She is able to directly apply the training from her academic program to her placement as it involves developing a business plan for a major museum in La Paz and reviewing strategies for the museum to become self-sustaining. Of the benefits of the placement, she says: “Seeing as I am specifically working in the museum amongst a completely Bolivian staff, I have had to do substantial inter-cultural communication. Not only are my Spanish skills getting more and more fluent, but I am beginning to understand more and more about what it means to be Bolivian.” |
