The DiversityCanada Foundation has designed several internship
positions for post-secondary graduates under its Career Enhancer
Foreign Internship Project. These funded internships provide young
professionals with the opportunity to utilize relevant skills learned
through their academic program; develop flexibility, inter-cultural
effectiveness, and readiness to work in new environments; learn
self-reliance, strengthen language skills and inter-personal skills;
and develop personal and professional confidence and the ability to
participate in the global economy.
Candidates
qualify to participate as an intern if they are:
• no older than 30 years of age (inclusive) at the time of selection;
• a post-secondary graduate (with a college diploma/certificate or
university degree)
• out of school (ie not currently enrolled in an academic program);
• a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or person on whom refugee
status has been conferred;
• unemployed or underemployed
• new to the Career Focus program (that is, they have not previously
participated in any work experience funded through the Career Focus
program).
These placements are for six months with some of the leading companies,
financial institutions and non-profit organizations in Europe, Central
America and South America, as well as in the United States. These positions are offered under the
Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade's Young
Professionals International program.
